Help! Cannot Connect to Samsung Kies on Wi-Fiin Android
I’ve recently purchased a new Samsung Galaxy S4. One of the things I wanted to do was to use Kies and Kies Air. I couldn’t get it to work, and eventually read that you need a wireless card in your PC. Okay, no problem I thought, I’ll install one. But still no joy!
Every time I tried to connect, I got "no devices" shown on the phone. Frustrating!
The reason you may not be able to connect to Samsung Kies even with a Wi-Fi card installed is down to the fact you need to set the Wi-Fi card to accept “Ad-Hoc” connections
To achieve this in Windows 8 (but Windows 7 should be similar) follow these steps:
- Go to the Network and Sharing Center and select your Wi-Fi Card
Click on the “Properties” button
- Click configure button for the Wi-Fi card, then the advanced Tab
Look for a setting that refers to “Ad-Hoc”. On my card, it is shown as “Ad-Hoc N”. Enable it! However, different Wi-Fi cards may show this as a different setting
Basically, find in your network card config anything that related to creating “Ad-Hoc” networks, and enable it.
Once you’ve done this, you will find Kies connects correctly to the phone, as does Kies Air (providing you’ve installed the App on your phone and enabled Kies Air on your PC).
Hope this helps some of your out!
